We go numerous times through the same lists, resetting Lead-Called-Status when we go through.
It would be very helpful if in campaign options we have something like "auto reset Lead-Called-Status" if dialable leads = 0 and time matches campaign call time.
I wondered if others can benefit as well from such option. Any thoughts?

We have done that before and it can lead to you calling the same numbers dozens of times a day if you don't pay attention to what is going on. This is very bad. We usually recommend using Lead Recycling instead.
