very bad voice quality

Hello ,

we have installed vicidial , with astersik installed in core 2 duo 2GH and 2 gb ram , when we call directly from xlite it is ok , but from astesrisk it is inaudible the quality is too bad , we are usnig sip trunk for external calls

When you say that you call from x-lite vs from asterisk, may i inquire whether the x-lite call is going through asterisk?

also: when you call from asterisk, how do you do it, if you don't use x-lite? do you have an sip phone or some other soft phone?

You should also consider listing your vicidial and asterisk and OS versions, read the "sticky" notes for this forum. it will help you understand the process.

yes all are passing throug asterisk , but when it come fram vicidial the sound is very bad

Interesting. You indicated that when you call from x-lite it's ok ... and those calls go through asterisk according to your reply, but you also said that when you call through asterisk it sounds bad, which directly contradicts x-lite through asterisk being ok.

Can we try this again?

Try to be a little more detailed on how an "X-Lite" call through asterisk differs from an "Asterisk" call.

Also: can we get your software and versions (remember from the last post: Vicidial and Asterisk and OS versions ...)? Also, did you do a scratch install from the beginning to the end?

In the meantime, if you've made any changes to your system after your initial install there are many things that can affect call quality. Even during your initial install many things can do so.

I've recomplied asterisk to match the current processor to fix bad call quality; i've changed codecs (g729 vs ulaw); i've improved bandwidth; i've outlawed peer-to-peer software on the same subnet; changed VOIP providers ... many things.

Check utilization levels of your Vicidial Server. Use "uptime" - it will give you an average load level on your box.

Am getting bad voice quality too read this...

Hi all! hope you are doing right and can help me!
My CONFIG is as follow:
I have an IAX trunk ,Vicidialnow installed, using zoiper as softphone.
My bandwidth is stable and in range for this purpose but the voice quality is bad ... i've not done special modifications...

Thought i wanted to bypass the asterisk to directly dial the trunk server to be sure that the problem comes from the asterisk (maybe) misconfiguration or others possibilities either by zoiper or x-lite!!!

If you have any idea pls help me there.

This was done to make difference ... But may be i was wrong.

But my question still now remain NO ANSWER! Only proposal!.
Thought its now a business area ! .. was hoping some help by experienced person.
For the learning part i think it's not a good idea to ask question to others because they have learn it, but to get advice from person who master it.
Everyone here want to do it or can do it !

Voice quality May I USE QoS??? maybe!

Thought the voice travel from your server to the other end should be using the QoS dedicated service separated on your router(2way data and voice), but It has been observed that this also have an issues like if the DATA packets exceed the authorized usage thus it use the other part of your dedicated bandwidth of voice or drop the connection. Thus i think better find a way to solve the problem on the asterisk.
