Uploading leads via CSV format results in ERROR message -New

Postby vccsdotca » Thu Jan 15, 2009 1:15 pm

I have searched all related posts in the forum already, no real solution was found yet.
When uploading in CSV I get

"ERROR: The file does not have the required number of fields to process it."

I have checked formatting continuously, using both the included templates and custom made via the instructions from the help link. All fields are there. The only way I am able to import is with a Tab or Pipe delimitted format, however, this is not convenient for end users.
Would really appreciate some help on this, thank you in advance.

this is direct from csv. I renamed the file to txt to pull data.

100001,10001,100,1,xxxxxxxxxx,MR,I,P,FREELY01,249 MUNDON ROAD,,na,na,MALDON,FL,none,33709,USA,M,01/01/1970,7275551212,test@test.com,nothing,COMMENTS

I have noticed a double comma after address1 but this has persisted throughout.

Thanks Matt

Have you tried the XLS file format to import?

Do you have all of the Perl modules loaded as per SCRATCH_INSTALL doc?

I used vicidialNOW but I referred back to the scratch and went through the Perl installs again from start, made sure super list loader needed's were there too. XLS format results in same error message.
php.ini is also allowing uploads with acceptable sizes.

thx

Please check the file permissions of the vicidial web directory to ensure that it allows writing. You could also try changing the system setting to not allow writable web directory.

Thanks for trying to help Matt.

/var/www/html = drwxr-xr-x
/var/www/html/vicidial = 777

I tried also with web writeable=no

Some further testing, hitting the Submit button without loading a local file results in the same ERROR message. So I loaded a csv and then an xls and to verify I looked in the vicidial folder and we do get a "vicidial_temp_file.txt" (-rw-r--r--) with data inside. Here is the output of the temp after csv upload. (2 records)

have you considered a tab-delimited file to see if that will work (i never actually use anything but tab-delimited). at least as a troubleshooter. and then try it again with one more and one less field just to see if there's a simple glitch in the number of fields you or it are expecting somewhere?

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I have made a tab file directly from the csv and it imports without any problems.

thx

Just to update. Although vicidialnow should have all packages installed, I tried re-installing perl modules from CPAN. I used the alternative switch to "make" as I was always getting "make: *** No rule to make target `Y'. Stop". If you are re-installing packages be sure to use "-force install 'module' " to bypass the already installed message.
Results;

This fixed the CSV view of agent reports (no data diplayed before) how ever, I am still unable to upload leads in CSV or XLS format. Only Tab versions are working.

Will update any progress but I'm no coder so hold your breath...

Allright well needless to say I am very ****ed off because after digging & digging I ran into a post http://eflo.net/VICIDIALforum/viewtopic.php?t=6969 and another about Firefox 3 from 2007..anyway , it is a Firefox issue and it works no problems with IE6, IE7.

Hope this helps someone as a first place to test uploading leads.

I have this exact same problem. I tried with Firefox 3.6, IE8 and Chrome.

I can only import leads Standard format automatic mode when the list is in tab delimited format.

you'll need to specify the "exact" problem. what error do you receive on what page? what symptoms do you have? (obviously you don't have the exact problem, as that one was resolved by using ie, and you have used ie and it didn't work ...)

There must be a difference but i have this same error message. I also tried with different field names.

When importing leads the custom way with old lead loader I see some fields are different from the manual:

(old – new)
Source Code – Source ID
Address Line 1, 2, 3 – Address1, Address2, Address3
Country code – Country
Alternate Phone Number – Alt Phone
Email Address - Email

But i noticed it doesn't matter if they have the old name or the new name because when i used tab delimited they both imported fine.

Are you continually trying this with the same non-working data, or have you set up a "test import" with things like single word headers, no blank headers, perhaps an older format of xl ... etc

There were some blank columns in my testdata. I just filled every line with testdata and made single word headers. I tried both xls and xlsx.

Like i said i can import tab delimited fine. Only difference i can think of is that the other person in this thread might have used an older version of IE.

This is not a major issue since tab delimited works, but would be nice if xls would work.
