Echo Cancellation

Postby alkinjay1 » Wed Feb 04, 2009 5:25 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of building my first ViciDial Server at work and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on Echo Cancellation. I have read online that it is a must have when you buy your T1 PCI cards but have not seen anything in the ViciDial/astGUIClient forums. What does everyone here think?

It is not a "must have" but depending on your quality of T1 circuit and what you are wanting to do with the T1 it might be a good idea. For example, if you will be doing any IVR applications it would be a very good idea to get the Sangoma cards with HWEC(Hardware Echo Cancellation) because of their superior handling of DTMF.

FWIW, I have a Core2Quad based agent machine that handles 70 agents on 4 Zhone FXS channelbanks, with recording (about 70%), and does *not* have HWEC, and we seem to get by with it just fine...
