I cannot guarantee that it would be capable of more than a couple lines at a time in that environment.

In fact, I cannot even guarantee that it will work on Windows at all, but in that case I would not charge you.

That being said, we could set it up for you on Windows, but it would be closer to $1200.

We can either work on it hourly, $50 per hour if there is NO deadline or $100 if there is a deadline and will apprise you of the progress as we go. OR I can bid on the project at $1475 which will require $500 down.

Hourly is not refundable if something goes horribly amiss. You will know what we know, and we will be happy to resolve any and all issues that CAN be resolved, but if we hit a brick wall, we'll hit it with together. At that point I MAY negotiate a 50% refund, but I may not, depending on how far we've gone and entirely at my discretion.

If you choose the "Bid" option and we cannot complete the task ... "No Fix, No Fee." We would refund the down payment less any fees charged to transfer the money (paypal, credit card, whatever).

If however, we complete the installation on our server, we would expect full payment before transferring the software to your server.

The definition of "complete the installation" is: ONE logged in agent and ONE trunk dialing for that agent (1:1 dialing) minimum on a direct-to-agent campaign. (As I said, I do not know if the underlying systems will be reliable for this software.)

Fair enough?

This is a very bad idea.

Vicidial was never designed to work under windows. Sure all of the various components might run, but they are not likely to be able to run with the priority that they need under windows. There is no telling what issues you might encounter. The most obvious would be dropped calls and poor audio, but there could be hundreds of other issues. You would also likely need to purchase far more powerful hardware to run it on Windows than on Linux.

When we get asked what it would take to get this to work properly we generally quote a minimum of $50,000 and no guarantee that it would work when we are done.

If you do manage to get this installed, do not expect to be able to get any support for this in these forums. The Vicidial Group would be able to provide you with paid support, but we make no guarantee that we would be able to fix the issues you are having.

Harsh. I agree it's a bad idea, but for the eager "Windows Addict" who wants to experiment, I'd love to experiment with it as well.

Even if only to know what barrier it was that stopped us. Unfortunately, we do not have free agents willing to jump on it. However, my idle curiosity aside, if a client were willing to at least partially underwrite the endeavor, we'd be willing to take point.

After all, without R&D there would be a lot less cool things in the world. And in this project.

That being said, I would, if necessary, put up another board that would support the endeavor (considering how popular Vicidial is, that doesn't seem likely to be a problem). I also have to wonder if there are others out there who may share the curiosity. Who knows, maybe Windows 7 will support asterisk. LOL

Why not just put it in a Virtual Machine? ..

Virtual Machines don't work because of timer inaccuracy issues. For VICIDIAL you need a good timer and virtualized timers do not work very well under even medium system load.

Actually, there have been several responders who have said they've done it ... but I've not seen one yet who claims more than two agents. Possibly good for "testing" purposes, but most call centers who "test" a dialer ... want to put several agents on it after it's tested and try it out for real (or even for "mini-real" with 2 agents on a 10:1 press-one campaign).

Which doesn't work with the virtual ones because they cannot handle ANY load. Maybe Two agents on One to One campaigns.

We have an environment on an ESX server but don't do alot of auto dialing, mostly Manual. The ESX has better feature performance than ESXi because of the available options so im not sure how esxi handles it.

Im not all that clear, is this the GUI on windows or the actual backend? In either case it nullifies the GPL no?

I tried installing VICIDIAL on a VPS before.

I can only put up 5 agent with 3 dial ratio with recordings. But more than that it went to crapper.

If you want to know, I used the vps offerings of lylix.net

Lylix is great. How ever the resources that they give you are no where near enough to run a long term environment. They have stated that their clients are doing fine with up to 10 agents so who knows.

stable is easy ... how many agents in vicidial with how many lines per agent?

have you tried press one dialing and/or remote agents to test the load?

a lot of people would actually be Happy with 10 Agents with 3:1 dialing ... but I haven't heard that being viable yet.

The most I've been able to get out of my HVM Xen VM is 14 simultaneous calls (5 agents). This increases to 35 simultaneous calls (12 agents) when I use a PVM (w/ dedicated PCI card for timing device).
