Gizmo5 Success

Postby rnorm » Sat Apr 04, 2009 1:22 pm

Has anyone figured out how to use Gizmo5 on ViciDialNow?

I have tried a few suggested asterisk settings and dialplans. I just cant seem to register.

Or if you have any SIP Providers that you know have worked. Do you mind sharing?

Sorry. This is a Vicidial forum ... you're asking about a device connecting to Asterisk. There are a LOT of asterisk users in the world, (including ALL vicidial users admittedly) but asking this group for a way to hook a new service up to Asterisk ... I would think should come After asking the Asterisk World in general (Much more likely to get an answer, larger audience).

We have had a lot of people try to use dialers with Skype and any/every free phone line service out there, but first and foremost you MUST get it to work with Asterisk. If that cannot be accomplished, you cannot use it with Vicidial (Unless you are a programmer).

That being said, if you DO find someone who makes it work ... feel free to drop me a line, i have a few customers who would be interested.

well after many hours of trial and error. i finally figured how to make Gizmo work with asterisk/vicidialnow.

When I logg onto vicidial it calls my extension but it cant seem to make outbound calls through the dialer. Manual calls through the SIP client works.

When I try to dial a number through vicidial it says that extension is invalid.

So i fixed my dialing problems.

i had some extra settings I accidentally put in there. I got manual dial to work but for some reason auto-dial does not work.

Are these Gizmo5 calls that are "free outbound" that work on manual, but not on auto?

I'm not sure what you mean. I bought outbound minutes. If I set the campaign on vicidial to mandual dial... When I log on as an agent and click "Dial Next Number" it makes a successful call.

When I set the campaign to any type of auto-dialing... it just wont work. I've tried adding sip-silence to my extensions.conf also tried editing the agi file and put ### before exit.

none of the solutions I found on the forum worked. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Sorry, I went onto the Gizmo5 site and it appeared to be a "no-cost" solution for dialout.

Have you modified "Extensions.conf"? If so, did you change the variable "TRUNK" or "TRUNKX" to your sip account, or did you actually modify the exten directly?

If you modified the exten directly, please note that all the details in the exten on each line are necessary. So changing the definition of "TRUNK" in [globals] is much safer than actually editing the dial plan.

Generally, if you do it that way and you get manual dial to work, auto-dial will work as well. If you research on this site the "dial switches" (the "o" switch in particular, but everything in the dial plan has a reason to be there), you will find that you CAN learn it all, or you CAN just use it as it sits and modify the Global variable instead.

Also, have you used any other SIP providers to make sure there isn't something ... odd ... about that particular provider? I know VOIPStreet.com will let you open an account free and make a few calls (like, 10 minutes) so you can verify your system works with them before spending any money. Not even enough to run a quickie campaign, but certainly enough to verify the system works. And binfone.com is a sponsor of this project (pretty much guarantees that it will work with Vicidial!). It's NOT a bad idea at all to have a "backup" provider in case you have some downtime with Gizmo5 (especially if you have no experience with their service).

Great point! Now i know a little about how it works, I can see what youre saying. I actaully only pointed "SIPtrunk" to the sip trunk. for the Gizmo trunk - i found the right settings on Nerd Vittles.

Thanks for the suggestion on the SIP provider. The only reason I'm testing with Gizmo is i read on their site specifically that they support asterisk. I signed up for VOIPstreet too

After assigning the TRUNK and TRUNKX... it originally still didn't work. then this morning when i turn the server on.. it just keeps dialing even when no one is logged on (i have a demo list all with my phone #).

Ill be doing more testing and figuring... Thanks for your advice.

you probably createed a "remote agent" and marked them as "active" which means they are "logged in" (by the administrator) forever. change to inactive

thanks. youre right I did have an active remote agent. The auto dial still doesnt work, i think its because Gizmo does not allow multiple calls on 1 user . I will be testing with voipstreet.

of course, your first test should only be one call at a time anyway (i generally use my iax soft phone to call my cell phone a few times and get call quality verified before it turn it over to the sales guys)
