Private Message Notification Approximately Every 2 Days

I am getting a PM notification about every two days from this board, but then when I login nothing is there. Is there something wrong with the notifications? I don't want to disable them, but may be the option given I have yet to have anyone actually send me a message here.

most likely it's SPAM, then we delete the account of the SPAMmer before you check you inbox. We have been thinking about completely disabling private messaging because it's been abused at times. If the latest string of SPAM continues we will most likely disable PM soon.
