Asterisk Segfault with CPA Patch

Postby tweidner6471 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:22 pm

I am having an issue with segfaults occurring after applying the 1.4.21.2 patch.

The system runs perfectly without the modified chan_sip module and only experiences the segfault after the patch has been applied.

After doing a quick backtrace is seems that the faulting line is 12225 in chan_sip.c, and it is the exact same fault every time.

As a side note, the issue seems to happen randomly. Sometimes it's after several hours of dialing, sometimes after only 20 minutes. There are no other errors aside from the segfault.

The system is an Appro server with dual xeon and 4GB of ram. The system is SIP only, with the following call flow:

PBX => CPA => AsteriskB2BUA => voip provider

There are other systems simultaneously using the perimeter facilities and they do not fail, nor are there any other visible errors. It seems isolated to only the CPA patched systems.

VD Version: 2.0.5
Ast Version: 1.4.21.2

Let me know if any other info is needed.

I'll have to send him a PM or something.

As a side note, I'm trying to get some technical info from paraxip so maybe I can find a better way to integrate the new sip headers into the system if it turns out that the patch is unstable.

I'm going to continue to dig around though, try to find a solution or a definitive cause for this. If I do find a decent solution, I'll post in here again with the solution.

Which sangoma/paraxip netborder CPD patch did you use?

When did you pull that patch file?

I used the 1.4 version of the patch, which was included with the source files from the svn about one or two weeks after the 2.0.5 release came out.

We have actually changed the patch a couple of times since then, take a look at the last post on this thread:

Ok, I just applied the new patch to my systems. I'll update later tonight after I've been dialing for a few hours.

Everything looks good so far. Thanks for the help guys, new patch is working like a charm. Placed about 10k calls so far without a single segfault or mishandled sip request error.
