chat on agents screen

Postby gerski » Tue Sep 26, 2006 10:30 am

I would suggest if we create a chat screen in agent screen so the TL/Supervisor can message the agent when he/she wanted to teach the agent what to do.. just like barging in but will not be heard by the client.. just like whisper feature (but i think this has an error)

This is a good idea, and has been discussed, just never had the time to implement it.

As for whisper mode, it is built-in to ChanSpy in Asterisk 1.4, but since ChanSpy is still buggy and can cause crashes we do not recommend it for general use.

This is a good idea, but we need to have maybe a separate chat server for this, in order for this feature not to affect your currents server quality. 8)

The impact of chat would be minimal on the server, just one extra lookup per second per agent is nothing on a 100-seat system that is handling over 3,000 queries per second.

It's on the TODO list, but paid-for features always take priority to the free ones that we work on, and this one would take quite a few hours of work to get it right.

I hope to have time to get this into 2.2.0, but without sponsorship that is not a guarantee.

Good idea, I shall add it today. I've actually already worked up a requirements and scope document on this so it will be easy to post.

CHATS ON AGENTS SCREEN

Postby blackboxtech » Wed Feb 10, 2010 4:06 am

I've been using Skype before we had our Vici with our people in the Philipines. And it makes us very effective in managing campaigns in real time. I have clients that we are doing live transfers for and they are remote, and getting them to download Skype is a nightmare.
How do we get this launched. I would be willing to do a joint venture on the development if I had a share in reselling the program to other Vici users because it would make Vici sizzle.
I also think the chat should have group chat were you can group users and they could send information via chat that could help in closing the sell or help with the lead which is how I use Skype.

If chat were developed by us(The ViciDial Group) it would be included as part of the ViciDial Agent screen and it would be open source and free.

Adding multi-participant capability to chat creates a whole extra level of complexity to the back-end(administrative, agent screen and logging) which is why the original scope is for broadcast messaging and two-participant chat sessions only. Multi-participant would probably add another 20 hours to the project:

When it will be ready?
Will it be Integrated with Social Media (like facebook and twitter)?

I know it is a big effort.

Sorry for repeating the question if anyone can advise if there is a progress for adding the web chat on the vicidial agent desktop (and if it will be added to the goautodial)?

Thanks for the help in advance and the advise.

The project (bounty) is discussed here: http://www.vicidial.org/VICIDIALforum/v ... php?t=8754

It seems, as usual, everybody wants the feature but nobody is willing to sponsor even $1.

Well it be part of the project to have an Integration with the social media (like facebook and twitter)?

OK, from the other side: What is the project that is existed in the goautodial that does this web chat? I tried to find in goautodial and did not find it.

Actually, I have someone who is ready to pay for web chat, but they need it to be Integrated with the social media.

No, there will not be any integration with social media or outside protocols in the first phase of the IM/chat features. It will only be internal messaging between agents and managers, with logging and permissions, as well as basic chat session handling with a simple javascript/AJAX chat module that you can add to a website for chatting with customers.

After all of that is done and working well we will consider add-ons to be able to handle other protocols.

Yes, we've been working on it for the last year in our free time. It's about half done at this moment. We are shooting for release next year.

How am I able to see history of these messages as an admin user? We integrated this into our daily use to communicate to employees. This is a great feature but we run long shifts and have several managers who need to see a history of chats sent that day or prior. Any help?
