Since he edited AGPLv2 code he HAD TO maintain the AGPLv2 license unless he received a license from the ViciDial Group to close source it(which we don't do).

either that or he would have had to find a way to seperate HIS code from the Vicidial code and make an agreement with the client that this was sep software and licensed seperately.

obviously, the changes to the vicidial code to make this "work" would need to be licensed the same as the vicidial code itself, but that external file that is NOT a modified vicidial file ... but he didn't do that.

he just modified the one page vicidial code and handed it to the client. once it was "distributed" to the client, they are free to redistribute that modified file at will (and obviously, they did).

I'm not an expert here but I'll try my best to answer your question based on what I know.

Short Answer: NO
The new version runs on Centos 64Bit. There is no upgrade path from 32Bit to 64Bit.

Longer Answer: YES/KINDA
Seems like the new version just modifies some files in the web folder. So, to "upgrade", just install the new version and transfer your MYSQL DB and any asterisk dialplan modifications from the server w/ older version to the server w/ new version. Then give the new server the IP used by old server.

Just a minor correction. The latest VicidialNOW (1.3) is still 32 bit. However, it does support up to 64 gig of RAM out of the box.

There is no automated way yet of upgrading your VicidialNOW system to the next version. It still needs to be done manually. I would appreciate if someone can document the needed steps and post it here on the forums.

this the detail when no one is login..and no problem at this time.but when we are putting more then 10person on manual dial then they are getting voice breaking problem.

The different agent interface has been committed to SVN branches 2.0.5 as /www/agc/vicidial2.php. Yes you can update your vicibox to latest 2.0.5 branch and have this user interface.

This user interface has not yet been ported to 2.2.0 to my knowledge.

That's not SVN branch 2.0.5, that's the last RC release. You need to use svn to download it, there are instructions on the Wiki.

maybe you should try talking about migrating it to 2.4 (or SVN trunk as an "alternate" LIVE interface), instead of something that has to be "fixed" every time an update/upgrade occurs because it's 1 or 2 versions behind (stuck back in the "Stable" ).

R U kidding? the code is hardly secret. But it's a modified version of two generations ago. The work you are asking to be done would bring it up to last generation. Not particularly helpful for the group of people working with "latest greatest" at all times.

It's all Open Source. Noone is "Hiding" it. It's just A LOT of work to do (for free) ESPECIALLY since it's two versions behind.

It would be different if it were already compatible with the present development branch, then it would just be "diff'd" the same way the regular interface is and "kept current".

THAT would be worth paying to get to! But not for me, none of my clients seem to care! LOL

(they have 20 professional telemarketers or more and not a dang one of them cares what the screen looks like, they ONLY care about TODAY's sales!)

I agree. The development should be done on the current version (2.2) and on the upcoming 2.4 (SVN). That way, the code can then be mainstream and will give Vicidial an alternate Agent interface.

We don't have clients yet who want the new interface ported to 2.2 or 2.4. Hopefully someone comes along and sponsors it.

The 2.2 version of Vicidial rocks! It's totally awesome. Thanks Matt for the great software.

@Gmcust3: The code is already shared with the community since it's part of VicidialNOW. That's the beauty of open source. Matt also made it available on the tracker for everyone using 2.0.5.

i'm not sure there's a need for vNOW1.4 ... i mean, you put vNOW1.3 in and SVN up to the version of Vicidial you like.

If you MUST have the "cool" interface, it's all about that price thing (or about HELPING OUT with the code to upgrade the interface ... or both?).

AFAIK the "Reason" for vNOW was to support those who MUST have Redhat. That's been accomplished. the Cool Screen was a ... sorta "bonus" chocolatey topping.

And the fact that it came out before Vicibox, well that helped a LOT of people with an .iso install so the "entry fee" in man-hours was tiny all of a sudden. vNOW has served its purpose in the past (first .iso out of the box) and present (CentOS for those requiring Redhat). And I'm sure EVENTUALLY someone will just pay for the agent interface to be upgraded, but even that will just be a single file publish, I'm not sure it will require a new version even then.

But i've been wrong before.
