Remote Fix needed will pay for the privilege

Postby cj911 » Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:32 am

Hi wondering if anyone can help with this. If able to fix remotely I will be happy to pay invoice.
Problem is as follows:
I am running VD on my server and using zoiper softphone. As you will know the zoiper soft phone should ring to be answered when logging in. This was working fine up until last week but the softphone will no longer ring at login and when logged in I keep getting a message 'Noone is in your session.' I had to disconnect the power to my router last week for a short while and problem existed the next time I attempted to use the dialer. I'm not sure if the problem was there or not immediately before disconnection of the power as I hadn't used it for a few days prior. I do recall however being told when it was all set up that there were settings configured and saved in the router and that it wouldn't work properly if I ever pressed the reset button on the router.
With this in mind I am thinking that the problem has occured as a result of the power cut to the router.
I should be able to provide any other info needed to fix.
I would be greatful if anyone could resovle this.

probably just the setup of the ip addresses of the phones/computers was hard-coded instead of dynamic in your vicidial setup.

by this i mean that your "phones" (under admin) were told the ip address of the computer (since they are soft phones). but when you reset the router, the ip addresses changed. ordinarily it is best to allow the phones to "register" which tells asterisk what their ip address is. that way if the address changes, asterisk knows and sends the call to the new ip address.

there are other possibilities, of course, but that one sounds most likely based on your description.

so check the ip address of your phones under "ADMIN->Phones" and see if they match the proper ip addresses of the computers in which the soft phones reside. If not, correct them. that is the quick fix. then you can either change to dynamic or hard code the ip addresses of the computers which would be a permanent fix.
