How can an agent knows how many calls waiting in the line from the interface? I can't see any labels that shows it.

That's not right. Queue Call Display is deactivated in vici 1.3.
To enable this feature you need to upgrade astgui to version 2.2. There is a straightforward howto on
http://www.vicidialnow.org.
After upgrading to 2.2 you can define this under Campaign>your_camp>detail view> and there you find NEW options like Agent Display Queue Count ... etc.
