ssh and sshd segmentation fault

Postby StevenH » Sun Jun 06, 2010 10:08 pm

Hello All,

I just did an install of Vicibox Server with the ViciBox_Redux.i686-2.0.0.iso. It went well.

Asterisk and Vicidial are running and available via the web interface.

However I am unable to log into the machine with ssh. When I log into the console as root and attempt to ssh to another machine on the LAN, it segmentation faults.

When I attempt to start sshd with rcsshd start, I also get a segmentation fault.

In dmesg it shows ssh seg faulting in ld-2.9.so

Any hints or help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Steven Henke

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method, vicidial version and build, asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box.

Similar to This:
Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X Build XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

given the odds it is your network settings or your ssh configuration.

my money is on the network settings.

Install date 2010/06/07
Dell Power Edge 850 w/4GB RAM
Installed from CDROM image ViciBox_Redux.i686-2.0.0.iso
It is a single server system.
No other software is installed.
Followed current "Installation for ViciBox Redux" document.
The network, ssh and sshd work up until reboot after Base OS Installation.
Three installation attempts were made with the same results.
I have RTFM and installed other Vicidial servers on to bare metal.
System (including ssh/sshd) works with other Asterisk distros and ViciDialNow 1.3.

what are your network settings?

i've never had a segmentation fault from ssh (only from Asterisk during vicidial 2.0.4)

of course, we have only begun using OpenSUSE recently

Did you use ssh to run the installation scripts, or were you logged on locally?

The only time I've ever ran into segfaults was when there was a hardware issue. I would try putting the ISO disk back in, boot from it, and select memtest from the boot menu. Let it run for 4-5 hours and see if it throws back any errors.

Other then that, I'm kind of at a loss as to why you get seg faults.
