poor voice quality

we're using vicidialnow 1.3 for outbound dialing with asterisk 1.2 With 2 servers (1 CORE 2 QUAND 4gig ram) for the vicidial and (1 CORE 2 QUAND 4gig ram 500gig Hdd
for Database.)with Eyebeam as a softphone with 10 seaters. Hp compaq 2.8 ‘512RAM
Realtek AC 97 as a sound card ;
A very stable 20 Mega adsl connexion with 0 ;85 Upload

Connection to the Voip provider is an sip Trunk using the G729 codec ;
Below is our sip trung conf :

It has been nearly 1 month now that we are facing very poor voice quality the customer doesn’t hear us clearly then the voice became choppy, noisy and no further installation or software or hardware were added to the first installation(it happens in most calls. even when only one agent is making calls.at maximum 10 Calls are made in a time ,
Poor voice quality is even when i call an agent inside our company using eyebeam. I tried every codec possible but still poor voice.
It can’t be from the voip service provider coz we are using the same installation methode for exactely 10 other callcenters in our city and they are working just fine(.if it can help we are making outboundcalls from MOROCCO to France)

Believe it or not, but you can try changing Realtek AC 97 as a sound card to some Yamaha or ESS chip and see.

I faced the same problem for 6 months but later realised its due to sound card.

i have tried a YAMAHA as a separate card sound in one computer in my network but the probleme is still persesting.

the probleme of poor voice quality come from your server not from your agent computer.
you need a timing voice for zaptel or dahdi.
then i recommend the use of asterisk 1.4.

if you use G729 you need to have a licence from diguim do not use the free one found in the net.
then if you do all this from your server you can speak cards sounds etc.. from other side .

Where's the output of zttest? Also try running zttest when you have agents dialing.

hi every body,
thank you for your collaboration;well we figured out that while our agents were making calls they were listening to music and playing some (small games)which has great impact on the CPU usage (up to 100%)
now we asked them not to do any other activities in the computer BUT to make calls.we also changed our OLD headsets with NEWONES.and it seems to work just fine(2 days now)
But the question i m asking is this: is there any way to prevent our agents from reaching the desktop.to click on the desktop elements such as MYCOMPUTERS MY DOCUMENTS.(right and left click)
and to have only the VICIDIAL apllication wide open the screan.

need youe help again.

Switch to Ubuntu Desktop :)

One of our larger clients has locked down Ubuntu desktop without too much effort to prevent all sorts of things but still allow authorized application access.

or configure your network cards in windows to the gateway of the server
mean the agent windows will connect only to the server ;without access to any internet page

Microsoft steady state will allopw you to lock the agents machines down completely.
Including which websites they can visit.

We use this on all our production systems and works great.

Only problwem is microsoft discontinued support from beginning of this year, however it can still be downloaded from cnet!
