Is there a way to add new fields to the agent screen besides the default ones like name etc.

Yes, if you use SVN/trunk you can use custom list fields which will allow you to define custom fields in the agent interface.
Either upgrade to SVN/trunk or do a new install with Vicibox and select the SVN/trunk install option.
