"This is not a valid conference number"

Postby ejaboneta » Thu Oct 07, 2010 3:37 pm

I get the "not a valid conference number" message when agent try to log in. I've been searching for a solution but couldnt find anything. I found some people saying to recompile asterisk but I can't figure out how.

What changes have you made to the system since installation?

... telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box.

what type of trunks are you using?

are you using ZTDUMMY or some form of telephony hardware?

Have you made changes to the configuration files directly, or stayed within the confines of the GUI?

I am really kinda new to asterisk and vicidial so I can't give you to much. I haven't installed any additional software, just straight from the CD. It's probably from the "yum update" I did... ... other than that, its on a home built box with nothing special.

if this is a fresh install ... you should probably know that it's a wee bit old. you should install goautodial's newest version (the upgrade of vicidialnow if you want CentOS) or vicibox redux (if you want opensuse). They are available at goautodial.com and vicibox.com respectively.

you'll enjoy the newer versions much more.

as far as the yum ... you'll have to hope gardo pops on and can discuss with you the possibility of "un-yumming" as gardo is the support for goautodial's operating system in vicidial (The Vicidial Group supports OpenSUSE but does not officially support CentOS). Of course, I'm not with either of those parties and I support all of it ... but I've never had to Un-Yum. :) (I prefer Ubuntu and OpenSUSE myself, even though I started on CentOS ... but I have a couple boxes still running in Gentoo and I LOVE those ones, they just never die! :) )

Its not a fresh install. Its been in use the past couple weeks until today. Could I install GoAutoDial and use the old database somehow?

yep. if you use the /usr/share/backup.pl script to back up your data, but you'll have to "update the database" with the scripts according to the "UPGRADE.txt" document in the new installed version (obviously you won't need to upgrade the software that was just installed, but the UPGRADE document will give you explicit instructions on upgrading the data. not hard. :)

remember to GET THE DATA OFF THE SERVER before you reinstall.

i'd even suggest installing on a fresh machine and being sure it was "up" before wiping the old one if you can (those of us comfortable with asterisk and mysql don't need that, but if you're new to this game it could make life less nerve racking)

So I should do a clean install and then restore the data according to the upgrade instructions? And yes, I am familiar with the requirements of backup and restore... like not leaving the backup on the same system i'm wiping lol...

IF you get the data off the machine (and are sure you have done so)

you then reinstall ...

you then restore the database ...

you then read the UPGRADE document and it will tell you which scripts to run on this data (based on the "version" that this data was, it will tell you exactly which scripts to run on it to bring it up to date)

then you're "live" :)

hey, we had a guy a couple days ago installed it on his windows machine and wanted to know why he couldn't run firefox afterwards ...
