Scalability Question

Would it be ok if I started with a smaller setup and just added ram and more hard drive space as needed? Or would I basically have to install an entirely new GoAutoDial everytime I wanted to add more and more agent seats?

The pc I am using has 512 MB RAM and a 30GB HDD. To start, this needs to be able to manage a 3 agent setup, but will grow to 15 over time. I'm ready for all suggestions!

ViciBox is designed for multi-server installs if you are planning on expanding past one server.

Sounds like an old PC. What's the CPU specs on it? Are you going to record all calls? What codec are you going to use? How many seats are you planning to expand to?

YES you can add more memory and HD any time later to "save expenses now" without any penalty. Adding memory will simply improve performance (when you get around to it) and adding HD will require simply configuring the HD (although many people never do this, they just store all their data on another server!).

If you decide to add new servers later, creating a cluster, Vicibox 3.0.X is specifically designed to aid in clustering and Vicidial itself is well designed for clustering to begin with. I do not think (although I've never tested the theory) that there would be a problem with adding a Vicibox server to an existing VicidialNOW box to create a cluster. Of course, if the next box is more powerful, you may simply move everything into the new one and wipe this one and add it to the cluster as a slave (for one thing, you'd have a Spare Box during the transition before you wipe it ... great as a backup for a day or two while getting used to the new box!)
