sorry. unless you have KVM access and someone to burn the .iso to a CD (AND put it in and take it out) you are not going to be able to complete this task in that manner.

if you want to have the installation completed, you should either contact Gardo directly (he's the only one who has DEMONSTRATED the ability to be able to install Vicidial on CentOS from scratch, by releasing GoAutoDial). Otherwise, of course, if you start from Ubuntu or OpenSuSE you can probably have The Vicidial Group or one of us others (I work for PoundTeam.com) who can install on these other operating systems.

The Vicidial Group created VICIdial and maintains it, and they explicitly do NOT support CentOS. I've heard of several call centers who successfully installed on CentOS, but none of those do it professionally. If someone claims to be able to do it OTHER THAN GARDO, you should ask for references, and DO NOT PAY until AFTER it works.

In case you ask: I've never met Gardo and have no association, these are merely my observations from the board. I'm not badmouthing anyone else who may make the claim of CentOS installation, because I've never heard of anyone else who claims to be able to do it.

I'm sure Poundteam could do it (where I work), but noone has ever asked us to do so, and since Gardo can ... :)

Oh: And I DO love CentOS, I began on CentOS and do use it. Just not Vicidial servers.

Installing Vicidial from scratch is a long and tedious process. My take is to have your data center download and install the GoAutoDial CE 2.0 ISO instead of CentOS. Just tell them that GoAutoDial is a remastered CentOS to make the long story short.

I have installed vicidial on centos before vicidialnow was created. It ran 50 seats on 2 dual core dual proc xeon servers. 15 on the one server that is also serving httpd and mysql and the rest on the asterisk/vicidial server.

I followed the some steps on the base_install document, I also followed the cpan steps on the scratch_install plus the crontab entries and the mysql entries. Any other packages that are required are pulled using yum.

then I followed the asterisk 1.4 on centos guide from voip-info http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/CentOS+5+and+Asterisk+1.4.x+installation to get the package dependencies needed for asterisk.

when is the last time you built one?

not doubting you, but i've known several shops who made it happen ... but that doesn't mean you have the experience to "make it happen, every time".

in other words: if you don't do this weekly or monthly with lots of customers ... i would not recommend someone pay you until AFTER the server is fully functional (tested with autodial, forms, audio-store with live agents for a full shift).

i have had far too many clients come to me with the statement "I paid this guy ..." Those are never fun stories.

Gardo, it would appear, does this for a living and has a reputation on this forum to protect. He also manages a CentOS release of this software. Doesn't make him "perfect" but certainly makes the odds better.

I have a simple rule for clients: go ahead and hire anyone anywhere but do NOT pay someone who is out of reach of the jurisdiction of YOUR law enforcement agencies until AFTER the work is complete. If YOU are in one country, and the TECHNICIAN is in another country ... pay upon completion (unless you know for a fact that you will be able to complain to the Law in their country and resolve the issue, or can pay with a method that allows "chargeback" upon non-satisfaction).

Merchant account are marvelous things.

Hello Bill,

If you have bothered to read the post I made that was before vicidialnow was introduced :) I had it installed on some layeredtech dedicated servers before.

Been installing on centos since 2006 not that much of a problem except the unilateral noobness that I was before. :)

Now Im still running a 250+ seats vicidial cluster using vicidialnow 1.3 with 2 64bit centos database servers on master/slave replication. That's where gardo got that screenshot that he put on the gotoautodial website.

Now on regards about clients having trouble with their install hence the reason we put up the vicidialnow iso and the company vnowinc before. we got tired of horror stories we received from various clients. :)
