A choice to "Add 50 standard sip/iax phones" so they are "in place already" when the server ip update script runs at the end ... and it would be really cool if it even asked for a password for the login/conf secret so it was not TEST. LOL

Code: Select all
chown root:root /etc/vsftpd.conf

and the built-in add a user method didn't actually allow that user to access ftp

i had to turn on root's ftp ability to get any ftp access at all

this worked, of course, so who cares since this server is on a local network, but it would be nice to use the vici install cd for all servers including the ftp server instead of ubuntu like we do up until now.

Code: Select all
nano ftpusers
and then remove root from this file

for some reason, new users are not able to ftp. i haven't checked to see which group is actually in use for ftp permission (but i tried the ftp group to no avail, then just activated root to get it online). The client had 45000 files to move and i wanted to get it rolling. :)

Could do a just "yum upgrade vicibox" when upgrade to a newer version or some patch, not need reinstall from a new CD? I think osdial is well at this point. Of cause, I like vicidial more. :D Thanks.

Considering all the ViciBox v.3 ISO's are based on OpenSuSE v.11.3, there is no benefit to upgrading from say 3.0.9 to 3.1.0. All that really changes is the installer which isn't used after you get things configured.

Upgrades are fairly straightforward and described in numerous places.
