grub prompt during installation of ViciBox Redux 3.0.9 32bit

Postby panosfot » Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:31 pm

Hi all from Greece,
I am newbie in linux and its my first installation. Even though I have a little experiencea with vicidial 2.0.5
( as the person who was loading leads, creating campaigns, e.t.c), I have no experience with the installation of it.
Now I have downloaded ViciBox_Redux.i686-3.0.9.iso (32-bit) and verified the md5, burned it and started installation on a test machine.

The wizard is excellent and so the instractions (ViciBox_Redux_v3-Install.pdf). I have almost completed the Phase 1 succefully. (I have set static ip, gateway, dns, and I accept the default partitioning scheme) but after the reboot I find myself with a grub prompt and i have no idea what to do

Thanks in advance

have you considered the "walk-thru" on the vicibox website? (and did you "os-install" after setting all those network items and then logging in ... or did you just reboot?)

yes I did, after the first failure attempt i had. The guide lines of the walkthrough on the vicibox website are not similar to the screens i see during the installation. (the screens are identical with the procedure as explained in ViciBox_Redux_v3-Install.pdf)

and yes, i set the network settings, then login with root/vicidial, the 'os-install', select clock and time zone , and the suggested partiotioning screen gives one swap volume of 4GB and one root volume with 107GB with ext3 (which I accept). At Live installation settings on 'Booting' the status location is : /dev/sda2 ("/") and says that boot from "/" is enabled

my advice would be to do it over (perhaps something went wrong)

and/or describe the prompt ... are you talking about
Code: Select all
grub>
or is there a grub menu?

you may also want to describe the hardware

just to be funny (and perhaps skip the learning curve) you could try goautodial :)

otherwise it'll be time to find out if it is losing track of your HD, or not installing grub properly, or what.

any errors during the os-install?
