Remote Agents Help.

Postby vkjalan » Fri Feb 11, 2011 10:40 am

Hi,
I am Using GOAUTODIAL 2.0 CE. We have a new installation.

The problem is that the agents dialing from home are not able to listen to the customers. There is no voice coming to them.

Here is my setup, As we have only one external Ip we have configured the same on the router and the server is 192.168.1.2 on the local lan which is connected to the router. I have put the server ( 192.168.1.2) on DMZ so we are able to loggin on both the web as well as on the softphone. But when we login to the page and dial we cannot here the voice.

Can you point out the possible problem.

Also what could we do to solve this problem.

Your help would be highly appreciated.

If your agents and your Asterisk server are both behind firewalls, you must have a special router that can handle SIP. Otherwise (technically) two firewalls make SIP calls impossible.

Also: nat=yes for each of the agents sip phones

Also: externip=xxx.xx.xxx.xxx (your external ip address) can be placed in sip.conf if you have a server on a 192.x ip address.

Another cool thing: Try Zoiper: It can use IAX which has no problem with firewalls. And it's free, too.

Can you possibly suggest a solution !

I have only one external Ip and only one Network card on the server. I cannot add another as its not being detected on Goautodial. We need agents to dial from Home also, the agents in office need internet to access the net as well.

So what we have done is that we have connected the modem to the netgear router in the WAN input connection and then taken a LAN output from it and connected to the switch. All the machines and server are connected to the Switch. The server ip is 192.168.1.2 and other are on DHCP. On the router I have put the Server ip 192.168.1.2 on DMZ but there seems to be some problem with the server, The dialing stops automatically and also the agents from home cant hear the customers.

Please help me with a solution.

Zoiper is a soft phone. It uses IAX which is not susceptible to the firewall issues. It uses port 4569, which must be forwarded to your Vicidial server to allow zoiper to register. Have your agents use Zoiper when they are working from home. Did i mention that it's free?

Hi,
Well thank you for the suggestion will look into it. But then i need to add IAX phones isnt it also i need to create a dial plan under IAX. Not sure how this works.

Also can you tell me how to add bulk phone on GOAUTODIAL.

It takes a lot of time to add each phone. I suppose there is a script to add phones at once.

Please advice.

In SVN/trunk there is an undocumented page that will bulk add phones to your systems. It is also designed to add phones aliases and phone accounts across multiple servers. It has no help information which is why it is undocumented.

vicidial/admin_phones_bulk_insert.php

You will need to upgrade to latest svn/trunk to use it.

you do not need to modify your dialplan in any way.

if you are using an old version of vicidial, there is still a "50 phones SIP/IAX" loader in the "extras" folder. you'll have to either run the admin update ip script after or change each of the newly added phones to the proper server ip (since it was created in mysql with no knowledge of YOUR server IP, it'll use a standard ip .. running the server update script with that ip as "old" and your present ip as "new" will cause them all to be added to your existing server).

of course, if you are unsure of all this, then it IS best to simply create IAX phones for your agents.

remember: you do not need to use IAX anywhere else in your system just because your agents are on IAX phones. asterisk converts all the channels to communicate with each other :)
