Load balancing outbound calls - 2 voip gateways

Postby randy_delgado_03 » Wed Feb 23, 2011 9:02 pm

Good Day Everyone,

Has anyone tried to load balance the outbound calls, i mean example i have 2 vicibox voice gateways with 2 different ISP's connected to it, 50% of the outbound calls goes to 1st vicibox voice gateway and 50% goes to the 2nd ...

The setup im thinking is like having 4 vicibox servers, 1x WEB/DB, 1x Asterisk (as the main one where all the calls originate), and 2 Asterisk (as voice gateways where outbound calls are being forwarded).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated ...

there's more than one way to do tht. you could avoid installing vicidial on the "outbound" servers completely (pure asterisk) and just use them as trunks ("carriers"), or you could configure as you described with three "dialers", but one for agents and two for trunks.

Thank you williamconley for being ever supportive.

If you dont mind, could you give me a little walk through (sample extension config) to forward calls from Agent Vicibox to 50/50 on 2 Vicibox Dialer ...

Thank you (^_^) ...

you should familiarize yourself with several locations:

/usr/share/astguiclient

has lots of cool script in it. execute each with --help for simplistic directions, read them with nano for in-depth notes.

/usr/src/astguiclient/VERSION/docs

has way cool documentation files

vicidial manager's manual (paid version has extremely helpful IN-DEPTH information, well worth the $$ in regained time)

push a (?) button ... notice that the file that comes up has LOTS of help in it. copy it to disk and read through them all. very useful information on undocumented features (not yet in the manual)

even BETTER stuff in the manager's manual (the paid version has ... quite a bit of info, couple hundred pages worth). if you intend to make a living with this free software it's a worthy investment (in time saved alone!)
