admin->system settings in 2.4 allows specifying new labels for the standard fields (ie: changing first name to company and last name to contact, that sort of thing), which changes the field labels on the agent screens. i expect that also changes it everywhere else the labels are used.

so that means a new install. Can this be changed in on the PHP pages and in the SQL db ??
Thanks

UPGRADE following the SVN How To instructions in the Vicidial Wiki (link at top of page)

be sure you do a backup of your database before you begin AND copy the vicidial version and build information in case you screw it all up and want to just reinstall to where you are now

i've NEVER had a problem with an update other than a corrupt or missing database backup, so after you back up your database, verify that the data is really in there by restoring it on another mysql server or in another database name on the same server. (and this is something you should have done a while ago regardless of impending upgrade/update, etc, yes? 8) )

Well there really is nothing to save except the "configuration" the server has only been up 4 days and no one has used it. Doing the upgrade concerns me, because I really dont know anything about linux and very little about asterisk...........
Thanks

that would be what directions are for.

and the configuration is generally IN the database unless you have telephony hardware or got silly and edited conf files directly

but if you don't have the backup taken care of ... you're in need of figuring THAT out now anyway or your entire database could disappear with a bad HD. and ordinarily the database is all that really matters.

have you read the manual 8)?

I guess the "easy install" manual is the one to select ?
Thanks

I suppose you "missed this one" when you read all the stickies on the forum 8)

http://www.eflo.net/VICIDIALforum/viewtopic.php?t=16326

If you DIDN'T read all the stickies on the forum, now is a good time to rectify that. they are "sticky" for a reason ... :)

OH: And before you ask, the SVN upgrade procedure applies to ANY installation ... although you may need modifications for your OS file locations. (a good reason to read ALL the stickies as we suggest 8))
