hi,
i have one more question. what is the best the do vicidial databases maintance? is there any tool which can delete all log over then 7 days in database? or can we set cron job which can remove all vicidial log files over then 7 days?

thanks for your reply. disable all kind of logging you mean by all asterisk logging? if yes i have then please guide me i can disable all asterisk logging from logger.conf file commenting given below these lines like this?

#[logfiles]
#console => notice,warning,error
#messages => notice,warning,error,debug,verbose

also please let me know if there is any way to disable vicidial logging? please can you guide me how can i optimize and repair vicidial database?

don't go quite that far. and use ; instead of #

this allows console to see important messages but avoids creating a messages file and using i/o and disk space

AFTER saving your changes:

asterisk -rx "logger rotate"

to cause the change to take effect (this command can also be useful before and after a test to segregate the log file causing the log file to contain only the information from the time you wanted to check )

Also under Admin->Servers on each server you can set log file to NONE.

crontab -e contains many scripts (optional) for database maintenance for long-term projects. and the manual (paid version) has information for deeper vicidial understanding for long term usage as well. excellent reading for someone whose paychec may ride on this software for a few years

DO get a solid backup (backup script in /usr/share/astguiclient) immediately and learn to use the ftp option in it to push the database OFF the system nightly (the rest really doesn't need to be backed up nightly unless you have manually modified/customized web pages or configuration files).
