look at the scratch install instructions. the locations for all the files required are in it, and there's an option to install this exact file (including instructions for compiling and installing AND what to do AFTER you install it, which may have other requirements such as recompiling zaptel or dahdi and/or libpri). Scratch installation instructions contain a huge amount of detailed information for such occasions.
but you really should consider installing from an .iso instead of a manual upgrade.
you should back up your data, install a newer version (goautodial 2.0 if you want vicidial 2.2 or vicibox 3.0.6 if you want vicidial 2.4 opensuse), then restore your data, and upgrade it according to the instructions for upgrading sql data from your present version to the version you installed (the UPGRADE.txt will have the individual steps required to bring your data up from whatever version you are using to the version you just installed, usually one command per version upgrade so 2.0->2.2=1 command! 2.0->2.4=2 commands!).
that way you would have a definitely stable installation of the software and upgraded data and will probably have a lot less problems.
when the upgrade only involves vicidial it's not a big deal, but when you begin to recompile anything ... at least have the data backed up OFF the machine (and verified that it's really there!) so you CAN just wipe it clean and reinstall from a fresh .iso if you "have problems".
i actually recommend that newbie's practice installing several times just so they lose the fear of installation. now that gardo and the vicidial group have .iso's ... there should really be NO fear of a full reinstall.
