Carrier Settings

Postby rtabigue » Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:27 pm

Hi ALL,

I added new carrier using GUI vicidial admin. however when i checked in the sip.conf and extension.conf the settings are not replicated there. May i ask your expertise regarding this matter...

Hoping for your prompt response

1) thanks for posting your server specs! brilliant 8)

2) be sure you have "active" = "Y" for the carrier in question

3) settings are NOT in the direct ".conf" files. they are in "-vicidial.conf" files (ie: sip-vicidial.conf, NOT sip.conf). This allows the sip.conf and extensions.conf to remain STATIC (and get replaced with new/better ones on upgrade without affecting the "generated" .conf file and vice versa).

active is set to YES

Thank you for this clarification. Appreciated It!

One more question, i checked in the asterisk CLI "sip show peers" and can't find the SIP IP PEER. Is there something i missed in the configuration? Please advise

dunno. you haven't shown any account settings, so it's impossible to say if you missed something.

sip show registry and sip show peers will show different entries based on the creation of those entries in the carriers setup. but without those entries to look at, i can't say what you missed (other than the obvious [sipaccount] context entry at the top of the account entry, if you missed that it certainly would not show up in sip show peers).

interesting. now: where did you put this information (which field of the carrier settings did you put each piece of this puzzle).

note: "context=mycontext" should be changed to "context=trunkinbound". The ONLY use for this setting is for inbound traffic. If you want Vicidial to handle inbound traffic, now or in the future, set it to trunkinbound. If you want to DISABLE inbound traffic or route it some other way, then use your own discretion.

we need some more attention to detail.

did you put the registration string in the account entry?

did you put all of it in the account entry?

did you include [xxxx] the context name, including brackets, in the account entry?

then you must wait 60 seconds ... and see if it was written into sip-vicidial.conf (which would ordinarily be evidenced by having an entry appear in sip show peers, because that's where sip show peers gets the peers).

i'm a technician. you have to give technical answers or i'll keep quizzing you 8) (because we obviously have a technical issue, and any tiny misstep or misunderstanding will cause it to fail ... and quite often that's what it is ... one semicolon out of place is all it takes! LOL)

Perhaps you should read over the tutorial on sip carriers. the registration string does not go in the account entry.

how about you post all the fields and what you put in them, one at a time, in an orderly fashion, and we'll see if there's a problem (xx.xx.xx.xx for ip addresses, and USER/PASS instead of real user & pass).

OR you can verify in sip-vicidial.conf that your entry did appear. but if you don't have the entry correct, having it appear incorrectly in the sip-vicidial.conf won't help 8)
