Hi, I would like to ask how we can use the Text To Speech(TTS) feature in Goautodial? Is there any script? Your reply would greatly be appreciated. TIA!

You need to buy a Cepstral voice license and concurrency license, then install Cepstral on the dialer, then TTS will work.

Hi Matt, thanks for the reply.
Do we have a Cepstral installation guide for TTS GoAutoDial?
We are using GoAutoDial C.E. 2.1
------------------------------------------
Vicidial SVN 2.4-309a BUILD: 110430-1642
Asterisk 1.4.39.1-vici
DAHDI 2.4.1
Sangoma Wanpipe 3.4.20
CentOS 5.6
------------------------------------------
I was wondering if there are settings that we need to change on the Campaigns and on the Admin TTS.
Hope you can help us out on this. Just don't have any idea on what to do after we install the voice and how to test it.

Not that I'm aware of, but we never use Goautodial/vicidialnow.
It installs pretty easily on vicibox/openSuSE just following their instructions.

Hi Matt,
How about in Vicidial? how can we test the text-to-speech? Do we need to edit something on Campaigns or Admin TTS?
We already installed a license voice and port from Cepstral.

Did you enable TTS in System Settings?
Did you create a TTS prompt in the Text To Speech section?

Thanks for the reply Matt! we were able to get it working.
We purchased Callie-8kHz voice from Cepstral however when we test it the voice is choppy.
Here's our TTS Text:
<break strength='strong' /> <prosody rate='+1.20'> <prosody pitch='+50%'> <prosody volume='soft'> Hi Sir.<break strength='strong' /> I am calling <break strength='strong' /> in reference to case 1. 2. 3. 4. 5 <break strength='medium' /> to conduct a quick customer satisfaction survey.<break strength='strong' /> Is the IT staff friendly.<break strength='strong' /> Press 1 for yes.<break strength='strong' /> Press 2 for no.
Your help would greatly be appreciated. TIA!

Never tried Callie before, we usually use Allison. Could you post the recording of this to the issue tracker so we can listen to what is being said?
Have you tried it without the changes in pitch and strength?

We already set it to default but it didn't make any changes. Does the sound card matters? I was able to read some forums and they mentioned that sound cards matter. Is it true?

Sound cards should not have an effect, and have never had an effect on the dozens of servers we have installed Cepstral on, although we have not tried every one so it could be possible.

Have you encountered voice quality issues before using Cepstral voice? what could be the probable causes and its solutions?

No, we have not encountered the voice quality issues that you described with Cepstral before.

We have already uploaded the recording to Issue Tracker:

Hope you can help us with this.

That sounds like pretty bad TTS generation, not sure for the reason it sounds so bad, but the issue is most likely in the engine, not with your server per-se. Like I said, we never use Callie, but we will usually use static wav files for the parts of the prompt that stay the same and only use TTS for the dynamic parts, this always ends up sounding much better as a whole.

Hello,
I recently installed goautodial 3.0 and I'm surprised not to see any TTS menu in the goautodial menu, neither the original vicidal GUI ? is it supported anymore ?

I can't speak for GoAutoDial, but Vicidial still supports it, you just have to enable it in System Settings before you see the admin sections.
