How to access go auto dial from the internet

Postby rickynivar » Sun Jun 26, 2011 10:50 am

I want to make accessable my goautodial from the internet.i usen others words i would like my users have access to the server from another location, i know about DynDns that you can create an account and host your server, and forward ports in the router to make it visible from the net.

But i would like to know how to do that on this goautodial server, im newbie on linux , i just basically know the basic.

thanks

1) forward port 80 through your router to the goautodial server

2) forward port 5060 (tcp & udp) through your router to the goautodial server

3) forward port range 10000-25000 (udp) through your router to the goautodial server

4) turn on some form of security measure to ensure that ONLY authorized IP addresses can access the server (You WILL be attacked within one week from addresses in China and then other addresses across the world on port 5060 with attempted theft of service). Use IPTables on the server, use filters in your router, something, but do not just leave it open.

5) remember that SIP cannot technically handle passing through two routers unless one of them has special handling procedures in place for "double NAT" often referred to in some routers as a "SIP Algorithm". Without that, it is impossible to use SIP through two routers. (In which case, you can change your external agents to IAX instead and also forward port 4569 through your router, as IAX has no such limitation.)

LOL IPTables to the rescue! (Unless that's your Honey Pot ... then you should do like I do and choke the bandwidth slowly down to 10k and see where they drop off, it's fun to watch that way).

you don't just "open" the ports, you open the ports in the firewall on the vicidial server and you forward the ports on your router.

then you enter the ip address of the OUTSIDE of your router into your browser (or use a site like "hidemyass.com" to check for you without leaving the building). if you do not know what that is, you can surf to any site that will give it (like "showmyip.com") from within the router on a workstation sharing the same router with the vicidial server.

2nd network interface works, too. That IP would never change (if you make that one local, for the agents for instance, but even if there are no agents, the local IP would not change ...).
