Hi,

I'm also wondering what's the best practice to replace the voicemail greeting 'the person at extension xxx is unavailable' but without calling to 8500. I want to replace the default prompt with a professional sounding one (not spoken into the phone mic LOL). I've done it in the past by simply replacing the corresponding .wav and .gsm files in Asterisk but i want to find a way so they are safe even when a SVN upgrade is rolled out. I see a Voicemail Options box in the VICIdial webinterface under Admin>Voicemail>box. Can i set a custom prompt in there?
Regards, Dennis

I use voicemail exten and send the voicemail to a standalone asterisk system.

That extension is some extension that's in the "Dialplan entry" of the carriers config. So just as well you could have your dialplan entries like Playback(greeting) Voicemail(3239) don't use "u" or "b" flag and it will start with the instructions "Please leave your ...." there's also a flag to even disable that. "core show application voicemail" if you want the full list. This is stored in the SQL so you could restore it to another system, copy your sound files over and probably be working on a different system in an hour with no major configuration.

But the svn is just the vici code (php & agi) so just as the voicemail files are kept, so are the greetings.
