Server load question

Postby palito » Mon Jan 29, 2007 3:15 pm

Hello. Question 1: How does the auto-dial level affect server performance? Is there a way to make VD predictive, and still not be much more resource intensive than manual dialing? (e.g. setting the auto-dial level to 1).

Question 2: What application goes easier on server resources? Meetme or app_conference? Anybody care to share his/her experiences with app_conference?

Rgds

Answer 1: No, you can't predictively dial without enough lines. A dial level of 1 will only work if you have perfect leads and never need to predictively dial.

Answer 2: We don;t recommend using app_conference in it's current state. It is still very buggy and has a lot of bugs that need to be fixed. That said it is better performance wise, if you don't mind the crashes.

Ok. But I can still set dial level to a somewhat low value (1.2, 1.3) and not be a great penalty in terms of server resources, right? (i.e. the key is # of agents per server...)

Why don't you just put 60 agents on one server with no outside lines and have the other server function as a dialing-only server?

What is the reason you need as many agents per server as possible?

Matt, we will consider your recommendation. Sorry about the questions, it's not that clear the way to calculate the capacity for the servers. It's our first project, and it turned out to be a fairly large call center, so we wouldn't want to fall short on our estimate for hardware and then having to go to the customer and ask them to go out and get us some more...

Thank you for the time you take to answer our questions.
