SIP Trunk provider for Cebu / Philippines

Hi,

I'm based in the UK and have been struggling to find a suitable SIP trunk provider in the Philippines, although after much Googling it looks we have some people here who could help me ?.

I work for a large UK company and we have a factory in Cebu in the Philippines which has an ancient old Panasonic phone system. I want to install an Avaya Aura but the Cebu site can't cover this with its current income, so instead I'd like to install the IP PBX '3CX' which I've setup before.

I'd prefer to run 3CX against a SIP trunk with around 5 channels to start with (we've a 6Mb SDSL connection with Bayantel). I've had some discussions with PLDT and Bayantel about providing a SIP trunk, but considering that the Philippines is now the No1 call center location there must be better providers out there ?.

Hi,

A lot of voip providers are capable to do sip trunking but it really depends on where do you want to terminate your calls to.

My country's telco industry does not make any sense. so if you are looking for VoIP providers for local calls, it's easier to call Zimbabwe than a nearby pizza place using SIP.

Is the phone system in the Philippines just to call your office in the UK? If that is the case simpler solutions exist, let us know.

The SIP trunk (I'd need at least 5 channels) would act as a direct alternative to analogue PSTN lines, so would need to present itself as a local Cebu/Central Visaya's number, and I'd want a range of at least ten numbers to use as DDI's.

Cheap calls to a specific country/destination are not the goal here, what I want to do is install 3CX as the factory's new phone system with a SIP trunk rather than analogue/ISDN 30. At a later date I'd probably add a Patton 4960 to link it to at T1 port on our UK based Avaya Aura.

But you also have to make sure you guys are not going to terminate local calls from outside that local area.

Would much prefer a SIP trunk.

Our Bayantel Internet connection is rock solid so I've no concerns with that, I just don't want to have to bother with analogue or ISDN30 (and for some crazy reason a local official has to come and verify the wiring as well ?!).

I'll give it a few days and see if someone comes up with a good local provider.

I've contaced a total of five different providers now, who are...

PLDT
Bayantel
Manila Voice
Accela
Acestar

... and not a single one can offer a SIP trunk with Philippine DID's.

I think I'm going to give up as it appears that the NTC and PLDT have too much control of the market and just won't provide modern services, I presume they're scared of loosing their traditional revenue streams ?.

I find the above a little frustrating though considering that Bayantel provide a single DID based solution using ATA's, they just can't provide multiple DID's aganist a SIP trunk

One day they probably will change, however, when the NTC can't even create a website that works correctly I don't hold out much hope

Thanks to PLDT and the NTC, the telecommunications industry here is still in the dark ages. Please let us know if you get to find a local DID provider.

I have some insight on this. Bayantel claimed they have done this before, and would like to do it for us. Basically, converting the ISDN30 at their data center and processing it through a metaswitch to allow us to connect to it via IP.

It's been about 2.5 months, and they've taken a deposit of approx. $600 and they keep coming up with delays. First, they claimed to need an IP-VPN link to their datacenter citing "DSL would not be enough" - even though I said we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Now they have delays with regards to that.
Anyway, if someone can let get me to PM them about any kind of solid SIP trunking, that would be great.
