OpenSuse

Postby GaD » Sat Apr 14, 2012 3:18 pm

Guys,

I currently have a few ViciBoxes installed, but they are based on OpenSUSE 11.3 that has now gone EOL according to this page: http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime. Question here is...., when could I expect to have a ViciBox iso with a current 'supported' version of OpenSuse? I'm mostly interested in this as the repos for 11.3 have been disabled already. I constantly get this error:

File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:php:extensions/openSUSE_11.3'

Thanks.

If you disable updating of the repository it seems to install just fine. I'm hoping Kumba comes out with a new version soon (perhaps someone will toss $$ at him? :-) )

The method we use to disable is to use Alt-F2 to fire up a new terminal BEFORE giving permission to continue the install on the primary terminal. This allows accessing/modifying the parameters ... if you have already given permission to continue the installation, these files will be locked and you cannot save your changes (if it even lets you into yast in that area in the first place).

Part of the problem is that our test hardware is Super Micro and for some reason the 3.1 kernel does not want to boot on it properly. Something with the acpi settings. We have been going back and forth with Super Micro about the problem. It looks like the 3.2 kernel fixes this. We might have to wait for OpenSuSE 12.2 in order to make an update.

Is this a solid version of 12.2? http://download.opensuse.org/update/ and what are the benefits?
