any license-encumbered codec like g729 will most likely be included in commercial software only. The packages listed above are pay-for only.

There is no longer EyeBeam for Linux. Counterpath produces a new product called Bria which works on Both Windows and Linux and includes the G729 codec. However, their licensing system does not work properly on the Linux version we tried it with. On Ubuntu 12 we could not get it to work consistently. It worked ok with one agent but the moment two or more agents log in, it actually locks up the Asterisk service on the server. We ended up having to replace several Ubuntu workstations with Windows because we had already purchased the licenses (which are not cheap BTW.) Counterpath customer service and support were not sympathetic to our woes even though we have spent $1000 on their software. ADVICE: Don't buy too many licenses until you are sure that it works with your site / os.

Have not tried Zoiper un Linux yet but we will probable buy a couple licenses to see how it works.

Yes, SFLphone only problem is that its easy to take a look at the passwords of the accounts, at least in debian squeeze package version (0.9.8 )

Thanks! Yate softphone - this is what I was looking for.

Is there any webphone that works on LAN? Asterisk server is behind NAT (doddlephone does not work).
