FreeSwitch Vicidial Porting

Hello!
I am a programmer with a fair bit of telephony experience. It includes Asterisk, FreeSwitch and Yate. My experience also includes OpenBTS, OpenBSS etc. On the programming front, I have knowledge of embedded systems, robotics and ubiquitous RIA and applications.
I work in a VoIP company and lead the team of System Integrator. I have been flirting with Vicidial since early 2009. If I remember correctly, there was somebody who suggested that Vicidial be integrated with FreeSwitch and Matt quoted $100 grands... very correctly so... Now, I have been thinking about that for a long time now and of course I have been doing my fair bit of research on it. With CPC of FreeSwitch far exceeding Asterisk, it is a good choice for scalability. So, I am starting out on this endeavour with a team of three more people.
I am planning to work on :-
1. Face-lift of the Web Client [change the very malformed mark-up and use jQuery + HTML5]
2. Possibly use Reverse-Ajax for maintaining continuous communication between browser and client. [Please suggest on this]
3. Create an API system for easy Plugin development and future extensibility. [a-like Wordpress, Drupal]
4. Replace Asterisk with FreeSwitch. [Primary Goal]
I would really appreciate any suggestion and/or help from you guys here. Please do really give me all your valuable opinion about this.

I agree with your views on Freeswitch although replacing Asterisk in Vicidial will require a full rewrite. This has been a topic for discussion here recently:

yeah... I have seen and added a reply there. I am now working on an interface rewrite of Vici. I should get it done by end of next week. And I would host a demo too. Hope ya'll like it!
