Postby Cj4life24 » Wed Oct 03, 2012 11:09 am

if by "remote" you mean at-home agents, yes.

If by "Remote Agents" you mean the vicidial feature Remote Agents, no.

My question is for "remote" at home....I think the remot agents feature can be set up to take inbound calls to an outside line by forwarding i think....so how can i get people from home to make outboud calls through VICIDIAL UI from home phone or cell phone...aand would that then be recorded?

They would need to use either a SIP/IAX softphone or dial through the vicidial system into a call menu that uses the NVA recording AGI script and then dial their number out.

create phones with protocal as "EXTERNAL" AND in the dialplan number enter there landline or cell number , which can be dialled over your trunk to reach.
so they can login as agent with there landline or cellphone. and from the Vicidial agent UI they can make and receive calls.
Yes it will be recorded.

Ok i got the phone protocol changed to EXTERNAL. But how do they get to the UI from outside the network i have an old post about this i just couldnt find the right answer. So lets say my Vicidial Server IP is 120.120.120.120 for S and G. Now my agents from offsite should be able to just input the IP address in the Address bar of the Browser ok well cant get to it that way so i created an exception in yast but still no success what can i do to be able to have agents log into the UI from Offsite?

Port 80 must be opened through your router to your Vicidial server (or you can use an alternate port method, but this is the normal method).

Beware: If you open port 80 into your system, you may be hacked. Be sure you have IPtables security activated and ONLY allow connections to your server from authorized IP addresses (your router may also be helpful in setting this up, there are many methods ... but it comes down to the simple concept that any IP address not "allowed" should be rejected when attempting to access your Vicidial server from outside your firewall, be it the "router" or "iptables" within your system.).

If you have access to manage your router, this is normally a $25 setup charge at "Standard" or $50 at "Priority" and generally takes 30 minutes or less to complete, but may take a few days to get to the top of the priority list based on service level. (At PoundTeam.com, of course, I can't speak for anyone else's pricing.)

if your vicidial server has an external ip address, i presume it has TWO network cards? otherwise ... what IP do the agents use to access it? if they use a private IP to access it ... and you have only one IP ... it's not set up as you described. :)

However: If it is set up as you described, you can try turning your firewall off temporarily and accessing it on the external ip address to see if the firewall is the issue. pretty much removes the firewall as a possibility. yast firewall and then choose "stop". you can start it back up as soon as your test is done.

if this DOES resolve your issue, you may just need to add yourself as an exception to the firewall rules under "custom". Add your ip address for both TCP and UDP (two entries) to allow access from your IP to the Vicidial server.
