Is it possible to Change Archive Server?

Postby jamessmith » Fri Oct 05, 2012 5:47 am

Hi

We are setting up a hosted cluster, but the archive server is not ready yet, so is it possible that we use a temporary server for archive, and later swap it with actual server. The only issue is that we can't change IPs of the servers, so if I used a temporary server for archive, and later bring in a separate server to replace it, the new server will have different IP. So will that be a problem?

2ndly, For the archive server, can a simple server with FTP is enough or we need it to have some sort of vicidial module installed?

1) Welcome to the party! 8-)

2) when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) Any ftp server will work for archive, but mind that you'll need to have web services available on the archive server if you want to be able to click on a link in Vicidial to listen to a recording after that recording as been moved to the archive server.

thanks william. Can you tell me if I can replace an existing Archive server with a new server with completely different hardware and IP?

My current system details are at the end of this post. And for the cluster I will use VICIBOX 4.0.1.

VICIBOX 4.0.0 ISO
ASTERISK: 1.4.44-vici
VERSION: 2.6-375a
BUILD: 120831-1523
CPU: i7-3770
No Timing Hardware or Extra software
Hosted Server with core i7-3770 on ASUS P8H77-M PRO with 32GB RAM
