Database Load average and Load spike

Guys any idea how to prevent Database load spike and somehow lagging because of very huge leads data causing the vicidial_list table to lagged in every query, Update, insert.Any suggestion what can be done_im having leads files for almost 4 years and every cronjob script runs like

Looks like you have a lot of leads, and your DB might be forcing the Lists display in the admin.php to go to a temp table when it tries to display that screen. If you upgrade there is a new system settings feature to no do the lead counts on that page. If you enable that option this problem will go away.

It's a "System Settings" option: "Admin List Counts"
