Scratch install with Debian

Postby kamirie » Wed Dec 12, 2012 12:00 am

Good Day,

I want to try to do a scratch install on Debian for testing purposes -
The scratch install method is in my signature but it's not up to date at the moment

The last version of Debian for production i did was 5.6 about a year ago , can i try to do the same scratch install to Debian 6.0? also i found this links

Code: Select all
http://www.channelblend.com/SCRATCH_INSTALL_DEB.txt ( Lenny )
http://elhabib-birouk.blogspot.com/2011/12/vicidial-installation-on-debian-squeeze.html ( squeeze )

and also will i still need to install the ff versions or do i need to update them ( If yes what version are compatible to one another )
asterisk-1.4.21.2
zaptel-1.4.12.1
libpri-1.4.11.3

astguiclient_2.2.1

Thanks,
Vicibox 6.0.3

Software packages, many/most of them, are available directly from Vicidial.

Use this link as another basic source: http://wiki.vicidial.org/index.php/VICI:UbuntuInstall

Note that inside there are links to some software packages. If you remove the actual filename you will often be presented with a Folder which may have a later version of the same file. I recommend this primarily because the asterisk (and likely others) install has Vicidial applied patches which you would otherwise have to apply manually. Especially asterisk, but possibly others, require using the patched specific version for reliable service.

Is there a reason you don't just use Vicibox? You're likely in for a fairly long haul ...

Thank You william for the details on this , I just want to learn it so if ever , i failed on installing with one method , i can always rely on another to get the job done , I already tried installing vicibox and goautodial successfully .

In that case I would Definitely recommend dissecting the Vicibox 4.0 installation scripts and learn to perform the installation in OpenSuSE. This will make your learning curve much shorter and once you "get it" you can port that knowledge to any other OS with which you are familiar. We've installed on Gentoo, Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, and OpenSuSE. But most of these have fallen by the wayside until a client specifically needs an install on a corporate locked OS. Vicidial is a bit odd in some of the requirements, but it's not all that difficult to install.
