2 VM's 1 Windows xp 32 1 Debian 64

I titled this Forum topic this way because I have a client who has a vici install and an EXT running on a sip Soft phone Twinkle on Ubuntu to be exact "Not using any other programs". I advised against Wireless Internet and Still No one Listened to the IT Guy. Client is using wireless to home receiver then wired to PC. So I opened the asterisk CLI and Sip show Peers show a response time of 144ms so that is 1 way and Round Trip is 288ms. I have Read the Max Latency for a Voip Call is 250ms Round trip MAX. Is that in Fact correct? The Problem is some calls go thru and some calls do not do anything. I tried to tell them they are hearing early media ring and the call isn't making it to the server. I have another agent working at home but using a sip hard phone on DSL with GSM codec with no problems. There has been times I have opened the CLI and seen Unreachable next to this agent. Server is Configured Correctly running as a PBX/Dialer. I only have 1 sip provider with 8 simultaneous connections, core show channels only shows a few calls active so it's not capping out. I tried to explain that this is the reason I advised against a wireless internet connection provided from a cell tower. I told the boss using a wireless connection from a neighbor would be better than the cell tower signal. Any Suggestions tweaks mods that may get this a little better latency or am I correct to tell them I told you so?

No other agents exts are having these issues. internal or external

i would probably have suggested that you title the post more appropriately something to do with your actual problem. but i digress.

you did not list Installation method with version. you also have some VM references that are unclear. how many servers? Is this a cluster? LOL. But once again, this likely has nothing to do with your problem since I think you said only one person is having a problem.

when you have a response time of 144, that's already in both directions (round trip). so you don't have to double it. latency will not kill a call unless it exceeds the "qualify" time set for the sip channel. but with latency being high and the connection being wireless, you should check for dropped packets. during initiation of a call, a dropped packet will often terminate the call. put wireshark on the client workstation and learn to diagnose sip packets with it. it'll make you capable of making a more "firm" statement about whether this will or won't work.

QoS would not be a bad idea either, as it is also quite possible the client is Youtubing and Tweeting while these calls are failing. In a call center, a real one, there is NO other internet allowed, Just Vicidial, period.

this is not in the call center this is a work at home rep who the boss though she could get her a wireless metro service and she be alright. the install method is ISO it's not a server issue its isolated to the rep

the install method is always "ISO", LOL. But Which .iso? And which version? And which version of Vicidial? While we "prefer" the installer version, the Vicidial version with build is a requirement for posting on this Free Forum providing Free Support for the Free Software.

The cost of all this freeness is only that you post your Vicidial Version with Build any time you request support. Please give the guys at The Vicidial Group (who make all this freeness available to you for free) a break and put forth the effort to post your Vicidial Version with Build (unless you are only here to offer Free Support in your off-time like I do ...).

I don't think it'll hurt you too much to post it. And you'd be surprised how easy it is to put that information in your Signature so it'll always just "be there" for all your posts.
