Vicibox, vicidial and Asterisk 1.8

Postby bghayad » Wed May 08, 2013 9:11 am

Hello;

I need to have vicibox versoin 4.0.3 with asterisk 1.8 and I have the following points that need a help in it:

1) Do I have to download asterisk from this link "http://download.vicidial.com/beta-apps/" and just do a normal installation same as we do with normal asterisk?
2) Can I use asterisk 1.8.21 or I have to use asterisk 1.8.19?
3) I heard that I have to use the trunk, is this regarding to vicidial and that is not important in case I am doing vicibox installation so I will not need to care for this?
4) About DAHDI, I can download the latest one from asterisk website and do the installation or there is a special DAHDI for vicidial that I have to download it from vicidial link?
5) If I did the installation using vicibox, to have a working vicidial with asterisk 1.8, all what I need to do is to go for the Server and set the asterisk version to be 1.8.19 instead of asterisk 1.4? Anything else?
6) After finishing the installation and every thing is up and running well, can I use do installation for goautodial to be my interface or it will be missing some functions and this is not recommended solutions? For example, the On-Hook CID is not existed in goautodial, it will stay not existed if I followed this track?

If you want Asterisk 1.8 compatibility, you should use 1.8.21.0, not the older version.

We just released 2.7rc1, it has full Asterisk 1.8 compatibility.

GoAutoDial is not compatible with Asterisk 1.8 currently, and it is based on older Vicidial code.

Where I can find the 2.7rc1? Is it part of vicibox or part of vicidial? I checked this link: http://download.vicidial.com/vicidial/trunk/ and did not find anything related to 2.7rc1. As the existed version of vicidial at the trunk is 2.6b0.5

We usually just recommend using the svn/trunk codebase, but if you want to download the release, it's available on the project website:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/astguiclient/files/

Please advise and confirm me if I am in the right direction:

I have to download vicibox 4.0.3, astguiclient 2.7rc1, asterisk 1.8.21.0 latest DAHDI version and after doing the os-install then I have to install DAHDI and asterisk and then I do installation for astguiclient 2.7rc1 using perl install.pl. After that, I will do rebuild for conf files by going to the Admin -> Servers -> Modify Server page and set each one to "Rebuild conf files = Y" and click submit. Right?

If to talk about the configuration migration as currently I have goautodial, I am going to take pack up for asterisk database, then I will run the upgrade scripts for the database upgrade_2.6.sql and then updating my phone codes: /share/astguiclient/ADMIN_area_code_populate.pl --purge-table –debug.

I have a question: Why to update the phone codes? What is the difference between phone codes in version 2.4 and version 2.6?

If I am wrong or I have a mistake, please correct me with a big special thanks.

Do you call into North America?

The install steps you mentioned look correct, although I'm not sure what version of Vicidial you are on now, you may have to run part of the 2.4 upgrade SQL file as well.

if you have just completed a fresh installation of Vicidial .. you will have the latest phone codes. But: When you overwrite that fresh install with your Old database it will have old phone codes in it. So you will then update those codes to get the correct time zones on leads.

Bcz I need to migrate the configuration from goautodial to the new vicidial version 2.7, so I need to restore the asterisk database that was taken from goautodial machine and then I need to run the upgrading script for this asterisk database. What do u think?

I have a question regarding the phone code, what is meant by phone codes?

Hello;

After installed vicibox 4.0.3, I noticed the dialer version is 2.8-403a So it is really not logic to downgrade to 2.7 version. What do you suggest?
